Mathieu Cilissen (born 1960) specialises in construction law and liability law. Since 1992, he has been a lawyer-partner in the former Gilkens-Panis association, which developed into today’s Adlex lawyers & mediators. After completing his secondary education in Greek and Latin at Sint Jan Berchmanscollege in Genk, he obtained his law degree from KU Leuven.
Alongside his legal practice, he is closely involved with several professional associations in the construction sector and is active in a range of educational programmes and associations. He formerly taught general, social and labour law at the Catholic University College for Nursing and teaches courses on contract law and property law at Syntra.
A keen sports fan, and football enthusiast in particular, Mathieu Cilissen has been a member of the General Assembly of football club KRC Genk since 2001. He has served on its Board of Directors since 2009 and has held the position of chairman since 2026. He is a former member and chairman of Junior Chamber Genk (Jaycees) and a former chairman of Kiwanis Genk “De Heimaaier”, of which he remains a member.
