More than just advice.
At Adlex, we believe that legal support is about more than advice alone. Clients often come to us with complex questions or situations in which the right choices are not self-evident. That is precisely where we make the difference.
Clear agreements in advance
Our fees vary depending on the complexity of the matter and start at €155 per hour. The rate is agreed with you in advance, taking into account the nature, importance and urgency of the matter. Fees cover work including studying the file, consultations and advice, drafting procedural documents, agreements or written submissions, necessary travel in connection with the matter, legal research, pleadings and correspondence.
The fees remunerate the lawyer’s work and are separate from the expenses arising from the lawyer’s activities.
Fee agreement
The financial arrangements are recorded in a fee agreement when a matter is opened.
Advance payments may be requested at the start of a matter. In larger matters, interim invoices are also issued. When a matter is closed, the client receives a final statement of fees and expenses. Both companies and private individuals must pay 21% VAT on legal fees. Companies may subsequently recover the VAT, while private individuals may not. VAT is charged on legal fees, not on court costs such as court registry fees, bailiff’s fees, expert fees and translation costs.
Comprehensive subscription plan
We also offer a subscription formula. This subscription functions as a comprehensive service plan under which a fixed amount is invoiced each month in return for an extensive package of legal services. In practice, we act as your in-house legal counsel.
Office expenses
The office expenses charged include the following items:
- Opening a file
- Typing and document processing
- Printing and copying
- Postage and dispatch
- Telephone costs
- Travel expenses
These expenses are charged at a flat rate of 25% of the total legal fees invoiced, excluding VAT.
Where these expenses cannot be charged on a flat-rate basis because of existing arrangements, Adlex lawyers & mediators applies the following rates:
- Opening a file: €50
- Typing per page: €11
- Email charge: €6
- Photocopy per page: €0.30
- Travel per km: €0.50
Court costs
Costs advanced by Adlex lawyers & mediators to third parties, such as court registry fees, mortgage offices, registration offices, external lawyers, bailiffs, notaries, translators, accountants, auditors and experts, are grouped under “Other costs” and/or “Court costs” and are charged separately on the basis of the amounts actually paid.

Often, without being aware of it, you may be entitled to free assistance from a lawyer of your choice under a legal expenses insurance policy, for example one linked to your family insurance or motor vehicle insurance. We check whether your legal expenses insurer provides for the free involvement of a lawyer of your choice. If so, our fees and expenses are normally covered in full by the legal expenses insurer.
You entrust your matter to one of the lawyers at our firm. Our firm, Adlex lawyers & mediators, is a civil partnership in the form of a cooperative company, with registered office at Grotestraat 122, 3600 Genk, Belgium, VAT BE 0859 633 695, Legal Entities Register Limburg. Adlex lawyers & mediators is also an association within the meaning of the Regulation of the Order of Flemish Bars of 8 November 2006 on forms of cooperation between lawyers and one-person law firms.
The professional liability of our lawyers is insured with Vanbreda Risk & Benefits, having its registered office at Plantin en Moretuslei 297, 2140 Antwerp, under a group policy taken out by the Order of Flemish Bars with Amlin Europe. A copy of this policy can be requested from and obtained through our office upon simple request.
Our lawyers are registered with the Limburg Bar and are subject to the regulations of the Order of Flemish Bars, which can be consulted at www.advocaat.be, as well as the regulations of their local bar, which can be consulted at www.balielimburg.be.
Adlex lawyers & mediators does not participate in multidisciplinary activities and/or multidisciplinary partnerships.
The services provided by our lawyers are subject to out-of-court dispute resolution as governed by the code of conduct or regulations of the Limburg Bar. Further information about the characteristics and conditions of application of this arrangement is available at www.balielimburg.be.
