Jonas Voorter

Since October 1, 2024, Jonas has been serving as a Professor of Environmental Law at the University of Hasselt. He is a member of both the Centre for Government and Law and the Centre for Environmental Sciences. In addition, he is also affiliated with the University of Hasselt as a postdoctoral researcher. In this capacity, he conducts research within the framework of the Flemish Circular Economy Policy Research Centre.

Jonas obtained his PhD at the University of Hassel in 2023 (title: “The Legal Transition towards a Circular Economy in the Belgian Construction Sector. Making sure the circle doesn’t turn square”). Between 2023 and 2024, Jonas also worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Tilburg University (NL), where he studied the interaction between private and public construction law to accelerate the circular transition. Before embarking on his academic career, he also briefly worked as a trainee lawyer.

From 2016 to 2019, he worked at Adhemar Law on cases related to environmental, real estate, and construction law.
